Iron Filters

Iron Filters

Are you tired of that red stains in your house and clothing?  Rust stains in your sinks and toilets? An Iron filter is the answer to your problems.

Iron is a common contaminate in the water in Naples, Fort Myers and throughout Lee and Collier Counties in Florida.

The answer to this problem comes by way of a few simple treatment methods:  Aeration, Oxidation by injection, Redox and Filtration.

AERATION

AERATION is the process of adding air to the water (It is a form of Oxidation). The air mixes with the water and causes the iron molecule to oxidize and theoretically fall out of solution, given enough time and other circumstances. This has been a common method of iron removal in Florida for many years. It is highly effective and simple. The drawback is that it requires the use of additional storage tanks, pumps, and controls.

Oxidation

OXIDATION is the process oxidizing contaminates in the water.  Different elements are introduced via an injection port and the water is run through a series of retention or mixing chambers allowing the time needed to oxidize the contaminate, in this case iron, so that it can be more easily removed by filtration media.  Some of the elements commonly used to oxidize contaminates in water are air, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide.

Redox

REDOX is the process of using a catalyst media to change soluble ferrous cations into insoluble ferric hydroxide which is then filtered out of the water and easily removed by backwashing.

Filtration

FILTRATION is the process of trapping certain contaminates via a filter or filter media which after reaching its capacity is then cleaned itself or replaced.  Filtration has long been used in the removal of iron and it is also very effective.  Unfortunately, traditional filters are expensive or require a lot of maintenance.

Joe Water however uses a combination of the above methods to give you a cost-effective solution to an age-old problem: The Iron Filter!

IRON FILTERS are a chemical free proprietary combination or all the above treatment technologies in one machine.  When your water enters the compact tank’s open air chamber, it is aerated, and the oxidation process begins.  The water then goes through layers of media, redox media and filtration media.  The iron filter is backwashed and recharged when the water is not in use.  During this process the media is cleaned, and the iron is sent down the drain.  With minimal maintenance this system will provide iron free water for many, many years.

But not all iron filters are created equal.  Low quality iron filters are a waste of money and effort.  If you are going to put in an iron filter, get a good one from Joe Water and fix the problem right the first time for a reasonable price.

Iron filters are sized according to your needs and the amount of sulfur in your water.  Call for a quick and easy free quote today!
